Custom shaped discs are discs cut to a shape that you and your
customer determine. There are several considerations to a custom
shaped CD project.
As drive speeds increase, the noise produced by most
full-sized custom shaped discs increases as well. We recommend
that custom shaped discs be designed to fit within the mini disc
ring. There are recordings of some full-sized discs under the
tools page that illustrate this.
There are two types of custom shaped discs.
Asymmetrical and symmetrical. A symmetrical custom shape will not
require CAD analysis and there is no programming charge.
Asymmetrical custom shapes will require a 3D CAD analysis to
balance the disc, and will require a programming charge.
Symmetrical custom shape CD artwork templates can usually
be generated within hours. Asymmetrical custom shaped CD artwork
templates will require a 1-2 days from receipt of artwork file.
CD business cards are perfect for trade shows and focused marketing
campaigns. Establishing brand identity is critical in the new age
of marketing and advertising. When was the last time you saw a
computer without a CD-ROM drive? CD business cards are the perfect
way to exploit that fact!
For custom shaped discs (logos, etc.) we request a jpeg of the image desired. Our engineer will then put it into a CAD system and make sure it will be balanced during playback. We will then make any minor modifications to make sure it will play in the drives without wobbling. We will then replicate your compact discs full-size with the imprint. We will then ship them to our Texas cutting facility. They are checked in and cut to the specified templates. The business cards are then packaged per your specifications and either blind shipped to your customer, or shipped back to your facility.
Most other cutting services will require some placement of their
logo or information on your CD business cards. Either
silkscreening on the face graphic, or branding within the mirror
band. When that business card gets passed around, and people
try to figure out where to get these things made, where do you
think they will go? To the company with their information on the
disc, more than likely. We want your customers to remain your
customers. We stay behind the scenes throughout the entire
process, allowing you to brand your CD business cards as you see
fit!
Cutting any CD will decrease the amount of data – music,
audio, video, MB of information, etc. – that the disc can
